Learning by Leaving 2018 


From November 19th -21st the Learning by Leaving 2018 Conference will take place in Cologne, Germany. A joint conference for European mobility networks organised by Eurodesk, Euroguidance, Europass and EURES centres, the event marks the kickoff of a series of Learning by Leaving Conferences that will be organised in the next three years. Workshops and plenary sessions, along with other formats, will show the potential in cooperation both in and between networks. 
Themes for this year will focus on different aspects of mobility guidance and validation of skills acquired by going abroad.

Participate in the Eurodesk Survey 2018 

The Eurodesk survey for young people is now entering it's last few weeks, aiming to create a better understanding of how young people learn about mobility opportunities. It is evaluating how they perceive the information landscape today and whether they believe information about opportunities abroad is accessible to them, so far yielding very interesting responses. Young people and young adults between 15 and 35 years old, with and without mobility experience, from Erasmus+ programme countries, Western Balkan and Eastern Partnership Countries, Russian Federation and/or Switzerland are invited to take the survey and be in with the chance to win some great prizes.

The survey is available in different languages and will be open until 25th November 2018.

The European Parliament offers different traineeships within its Secretariat in order to contribute to the vocational training of young citizens, and to the understanding of the working of the institution. These paid traineeships are awarded for a period of five months in either Luxembourg or Brussels.

Your Europe, Your Say (YEYS) 2019

The 10th edition of "Your Europe, Your Say", a simulated youth plenary session allowing secondary school pupils to learn about the EESC and it's role while discussing a specific topic.

The European Commission's Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL) is inviting citizens and residents of the European Union (EU), from 18 years old, to share their stories around the theme of free movement and social security coordination in the form of an image or video.

DiscoverEU second round announced  

From November 29th to December 11th the second round of DiscoverEU will open for applications. From April 15th to October 31st 2019, 12,000 young people will have the chance to travel Europe by train thanks to the initiative.
Citizens of the EU
 aged 18 on December 31st 2018 are eligible to partake, and can apply via the European Youth Portal. 


Parlemeter 2018 - Taking up the challenge: From (silent) support to actual votes 

The latest Eurobarometer survey, measuring public attitudes to the EU across member states, highlights that more people than ever consider their country’s membership of the European Union to be a good thing (62%), the highest figure over the last 25 years. The 2018 Parlemeter also takes a closer look at citizens’ views on the upcoming European Parliament elections, showing an overall increased awareness about the next ballot, and was conducted between the 8th and 26th of September 2018.

2019 Erasmus+ Call for Proposals Launched

The 2019 Erasmus+ Call for Proposals has officially been launched in five different areas. 
Any public or private body active in the fields of education, training, youth and sport may apply for funding within the Erasmus+ Programme.
In addition, groups of young people who are active in youth work, but not necessarily in the context of a youth organisation, may apply for funding for learning mobility of young people and youth workers as well as for Strategic partnerships in the field of youth.

First Croatian Erasmus+ Master Student Loan Guarantee Agreement 

On 18 October, the European Investment Fund (EIF) and Privredna banka Zagreb (PBZ) have signed the first Erasmus+ guarantee loan agreement in Croatia for mobile masters students.
This agreement will provide financial support for students from Croatia, studying for their Master degree in one of the 33 Erasmus+ Programme Countries.

EU budget 2019 to focus on the young, migration and innovation
On 24th October, MEPs set the overall EU Budget for 2019 at €166.34 billion for commitments and €149.3 billion in payments. Their budgetary resolution increased the Erasmus+ programme by €362 million with added €346.7 million for the Youth Employment Initiative. Climate related spending under Horizon2020, and the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) will also receive additional benefits. 
This is in line with commitments to reaffirm priorities related to “sustainable growth, innovation, competitiveness, security, tackling root causes of refugees and migration flows, managing refugee and migration flows, the fight against climate change and the transition to sustainable energy, and a particular focus on young people.”

Measuring how well Europe and Asia are connected
At the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in Brussels, the European Commission launched the ASEM Sustainable Connectivity Portal: an online tool offering a wealth of data on the political, economic and social relationship between the two continents. Showing connectivity between 30 European and 19 Asian countries, it is a data centre for policymakers, researchers, businesses, citizens and other stakeholders alike. 

SELFIE : The the new tool to support digital support and learning 
SELFIE (Self-reflection on Effective Learning by Fostering the use of Innovative Educational Technologies) the new tool to help all schools in the EU, as well as in Russia, Georgia and Serbia, to assess how they use digital technology for teaching and learning, has been launched today by the European Commission. Available in 24 EU languages, with more language versions to come, the tool will be offered to 76.7 million students and teachers in 250,000 schools on a voluntary basis. 


Today, a network of more than 1000 youth professionals work with Eurodesk in 35 countries to raise awareness among young people on learning mobility opportunities and to encourage them to become active citizensAs a support organisation to Erasmus+, Eurodesk makes information on learning mobility comprehensive and accessible to youth professionals.
