Eurodesk chatbot presented at the EU-CoE youth partnership symposium


From 25th to 28th June, Eurodesk participated in the 2018 Symposium of the EU-CoE youth partnership “Connecting the Dots: Young People, Social Inclusion and Digitalisation” that took place in Tallin, Estonia. The Symposium explored the intersection between social inclusion of young people and digitalisation, reflecting especially on how digitalisation affects young people’s lives. In a workshop on “Reaching out to young people and the digital divide” Eurodesk presented and shared its best practice “Eurodesk Chatbot on Facebook Messenger”. Named EMA (Eurodesk Mobility Advisor), it is a virtual digital Eurodesk officer providing youth friendly services to the Eurodesk target group to get fast and accurate information and access Eurodesk services.

Youth Essay Competition 2018 – Time to get writing!

Young people between 18 and 25 year olds from European Member States and COSME partners countries are invited to write an essay in English, answering the question: “What steps should entrepreneurs and government take to become more innovative?”.

EU Commission Traineeships

The European Commission is offering traineeships to university graduates from all over the world who have a degree of at least 3 years of study, C1/C2 level of English or French or German and a very good knowledge of a second EU official language.

The #BeInclusive EU Sport Awards are open to organisations established in Erasmus+ programme countries that have successfully developed sport projects aimed at social inclusion. Organisations can submit their projects and get the chance of be awarded.

European Parliament call for grants for the co-financing of communication actions in support of the 2019 European elections
The European Parliament has launched a call for proposals COMM/SUBV/2018/E to select specific projects contributing to fulfil the general objectives of the multi-annual work programme for grants with a special emphasis on the 2019 European Elections, which will take place on 23 - 26 May 2019. The grants support online and offline actions and products focusing on citizens’ democratic engagement and participation in the context of the Elections campaign.

Spring 2018 - Standard Eurobarometer

According to the European Commission survey, released one year ahead of the European elections, a majority of Europeans think the situation of the economy is good and are optimistic about the future. Trust in the Union is on the rise and support for the Economic and Monetary Union is at its highest level. More and more citizens feel they have benefited from key Union policies and two thirds of Europeans advocate a strong EU when it comes to trade.

Consultation on the Future of Europe

On Europe Day, 9 May, the European Commission launched an online public consultation addressed to all Europeans, asking them what direction they want the European Union to take in the future. The consultation was prepared on 5th-6th May by a Citizens' panel of 96 citizens from 27 Member States, who came together to draft a 12-question online survey to put to their fellow Europeans.

EU budget for 2019: Council agrees its position
On 11 July 2018, EU ambassadors agreed the Council's position on the 2019 EU draft budget in advance of negotiations with the European Parliament.
In total, the Council foresees €164.1 billion in commitments and €148.2 billion in payments for next year’s budget. Compared to 2018, this is a +2.09% increase in commitments and +2.34% increase in payments.
